So pink is the new black, I should stop to talk to hot girls Vanilla Ice style, and get me to the track to learn skillz? Werd.

Good post. I'll add to the list: check your bike weekly for psi, chain, loose bits, etc...

Great post Tim.

I second the recommendation to practice your braking, etc. Get to know your bike somewhere safe.

And I usually will flash hi/lo beams when approaching an intersection with a car waiting to cross my path.

Staton

PS If you want to ignore any off the recommendations, see post by Irak. That's also good for us that do follow the "rules".

Rollin' in my 5.0
With my rag-top down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby waving just to say hi
Did you stop no I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and I'm heading to the next block
The block was dead
Yo so I continued to A1A Beachfront Avenue
Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis
Rockman lovers driving Lamborghinis
Jealous 'cause I'm out getting mine

I love this post Tim!!!

I know we say it every spring, but this year seems to be worse than ever. I don't know if it's just more noobs making themselves known, more noobs on the road in general, or the common sense factor has just hit an all time low - but something is up this year.

I've tried to make my opinion known. Regardless of whether the days ride is meant to be a leisurely cruise or a spirited adrenaline rush - I always try to reduce the relative risk because I don't want it to be my last ride. Seems like I'm old enough now to get the "old guy" response, even though I've got more time waiting for my bike to warm up than these folks have on two wheel period. What they see as "nothing all that bad" (a response from my opinion on a very recent ride to Galveston) I see as having 3 or 4 of the main ingredients to disaster! And only luck and some very speedy guardian angels kept anyone from bleeding that day. But they got away with it, so they filed it in the "good, safe, organized" ride category when I can assure you it was ANYTHING BUT!

So this is the process I guess. This is the reference they make when they or someone they know pushes is too far... we are the part that "sinks in". It's just so frustrating to hear these people defend positions that have zero intelligent or logical merit. They're gonna justify what they want to do until it's not what they want to do anymore. Still... if we can save just one....
