race license

so any MH peeps plan on getting their race license? the racer's section really hasn't been populated in a while. just random peeps rarely popping in here and there. no one interested in pushing themselves and their bike to the next level?

What level would that be, Armando? Do I need to race to be fast like you?

I understand. Just not worth the risk to the health and career for me. Us old, fat guys don't bounce or heal as quickly as guys like you armando. I'll have to settle with being lessor and slow.

i was totally impressed by the 'bigger' and 'older' guys that still race. at the hallett races i was blown away by this older dude pulling insane wheelies onto the front straight. nothing but respect from me. i can't do that, and i don't want too.

family, careers, school. all those come first. at the end of the day, this is a hobby. my original post was just an inquiry, i mean its not hard to start racing. i was curious as to why more people don't pursue it. and if anyone has any questions about the process i'm sure a quite a few would surface to help out.

Maybe next season I will take the class for it. Im just too distracted at the moment. Im still in the test & tune phase for myself. Still got a lot to figure out about what works and what doesn't. When I start getting to the point that I don't absolutely need any upgrades (k.i.s.s.) then I will try my hand at racing. If I dont like it.. I guess back to trackdays and internet racing with laptimes..

I was actually about to make this same post. I'm looking into since I'm about to get into my career field and still young, I wanna do it while I have time and money. I haven't done one trackday yet but I want to take care of all the basics first, track plastics, steel braided lines, leather suit, and all that.

Trackdays have come a long way in the last few years. Used to track days were to give racers extra seat time, now track have become a hobby all their own. Lots of people do track days for fun and have no intentions of racing. It is all about fun and learning your limits and your bikes. Having a race license doesn't make you fast or more or less committed to the sport it just means for whatever reason you decided to get a license. Who cares if someone does or doesn't want to race, everyone rides for different reasons. All that being said I am proud to be CMRA racer # 904 and a member of Team Chasing Dander mini-endurance.
