Lufkin motorcyclist killed in brief Kemah police chase
By CINDY GEORGE
HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Sept. 4, 2010, 11:39AM
A Lufkin motorcyclist is dead after a brief police chase early Saturday morning in Kemah.

Joshuah Cavins, 27, was thrown from his bike, a news release from the Kemah Police Department said.

The incident began just after midnight as officers monitoring traffic observed two motorcycle riders run a red light at the corner of FM 2094 and SH 146.

When officers initiated a traffic stop on both bikes, one motorcyclist complied, but Cavins fled.

After a pursuit down 7th Street and south on Kipp Avenue, officers lost sight of him. A short time later, a wrecked motorcycle was discovered in a ditch in the 1100 block of Kipp.

Cavins was found unconscious about 75 feet from the mangled bike and later died from his injuries, the release said.

The incident remains under investigation.

The profile photo on Cavins' Facebook page show him seated on a red Honda motorcycle. He would have celebrated his 28th birthday later this month.

The only sad part is that he was married. So he has a wife and maybe kids that have to live on with this.

His last wall post

"Joshuah Cavins - I think I have died and gone to !!!"

Rather Ironic...

RIP, but the true tragedy is that his wife (maybe even kids) lost her husband.
