Track take off question?

I purchased a set of take offs a few months back and it's time now to put the front tire on the bike. My question is...the tire has got a bunch of sticky "" of rubber that it accumulated as the bike was ridden off the track and I want to know how long it will take to wear the tire back down to normal tread. I don't have a pic of it right now, but thought a few track guys might know what I'm talking about. Is it ok to run like this on the street? Thanks in advanced....

That would be refered to as "bubble gum" and it accumulates on the tires durring the cool down lap as the tire cools and starts to pick rubber up off the track. As stated above , should wear off in a few laps if you get the tires to temp. If it's still there after one session, push harder!!!

"bubble gum"? laf, we use to refer to them as "boogers" when I use to run with the PCA or TMS club at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on 4.

I didn't refer to them as marbles till they came off the tire and were on the side of the track somewhere.

Patrick, the joys of buying/moving into a new old house sapping all my time and money. That and work being pretty good.

I plan on running these on the street rather than the track. I do however plan on taking that Aug. Hill Country ride and want to know if they'll be okay. I plan on running the tires for a few hundred miles between now and then and from the responses I have gotten, they should be okay by then.

Thanks guys.
