What ya think?

Anybody here know how the Suzuki TL1000S handle? Any know issues with these bikes. I'm lookn at a 99 model. I currently ride a 95 ZX6R. What do you think the difference may be? I don't ride hard, just for work and back and a few spirited rides.

I looked at one a while back, and a friend of mine said I'd have more fun on a gsxr-1000, the tl1000 rode like a heavy warthog compared to it.

But I've never ridden one to know.

Depends on you man.. How you ride and what not, some people are perfectly happy with a 600cc their whole life, some people want more torque, the tl will DEFINATLY give you more power, if your a wheelie kinda guy it will be a blast.

It's going to be heavier though, and if you like the nimbleness of your current bike, it might be a bad choice.

What exactly are you looking for in a bike?

Just 600 is feelin small for me now that I'm use to it. Wanting something bigger and more power but still controllable. Not lookn for a monster or anything.

There's always been an issue with the rotary rear suspension design on the TLS. For street use it's liveable.
I'd make sure the linkage isn't worn out and the shock isn't leaking.
The forks are decent Kayaba units. Not bad, but are common for the rebound damping rod bushing wearing out. The bike is on the porky side, but pretty good feeling once up to speed.
If you can afford the difference the SV1000 is a much better bike.

I've ridden with a guy who has one. He loves the thing. I concur with Patrick on his recommendation of the SV. Plenty of them out there and prices are pretty good for bikes with low mileage. I was looking at the SV but went with Honda's version of the V-twin instead.

I have a 99 TL1000S that I use primarily for the track. It has lots of torque but is heavy and not particularly nimble. Patrick set the suspension and I find it stable and predictable. On the highway, it's fast enough to get you in lots of trouble but in traffic it's top heavy and not very comfortable. It doesn't get to be fun until traffic tickets come into play. For just pleasure riding I prefer my Harley Low Rider which has a lower center of gravity and I can flat foot at traffic lights. It also is fun before tickets become an issue. In heavy traffic, I can get tired just keeping the TL balanced. At the end of this year I may sell the 1000 and get an SV 650.

Hotwheels, you see the bike on CL? I saw it on there and looked like a decent bike. It's quite heavy but if it's the one I saw on CL for 2500 it looks clean man. I believe they sell lower faring kits for them too which make it look a lot cleaner (unless you like the naked look).

Yeah I was talkn about the 1 on CL. Went and looked at it on way to work. Forget it. Dealer wrecked it about a week ago in the p-lot. His knee is scuffed up from it. They installed an aftermarket fairing (for tack I guess), so no factory headlights or front turn signals. They installed a single light between the front forks under the fairing as a headlight. Right side fairing is scuffed up and back plastics is all loose. Single Seater only! Didn't bother test ridn it, new I wouldn't like it. Dealer also id owner removed the power comand, so will have to go to shop to get remapped (whatever that means). Just said "Ok" and I drove away as fast as legally possible in LaPorte.
