My dream project bike...

...Just became a reality.

I've been looking at getting an older 70s-80s bike to do a cafe project with, but really had my eyes set on a Cb750 four SOHC.

found this steal up in dallas this weekend... Ya she's a lil rough, but man, when you throw a leg over her, and kickstart that 750cc 4 cyl... all is right with the world!

1973 Honda Cb750K - the original sport bike.

My dream project bike...
My dream project bike...
My dream project bike...
My dream project bike...

sweet bike. I will be keeping an eye on your build thread. It's a good feeling to get a new project bike especially if it's one you've had your eyes on for a while.

Rock out! You have to wear a black jacket, white chili bowl and leaded goggles though...

I have a friend who had one built that was the same year as the one above. He has had it for 4 years and rides it everyday. Just changes the oil and a lot of plugs and that's it.

dude, I rode a buddies 76 CB750 many many times....he had drop bars on it with some kick sounding kirker pipes. I should see if he'd sell it to me.

Where's the rear suspension? that's gotta be rough on your rear.

That was my first big bike, around 1991, it was a cb750 from 1971. Big, heavy, loud, and pretty competent for a 20 year old bike, now almost 40. Sweet ride!

Ya, i dunno what he was thinking trying to make it a rigid frame in the rear, but luckly he saved the rear shocks, so i'll likely be putting those back on.

i know exactly whatcha mean, only problem with the 750 is it has a dry sump tranny, so you gotta have that external oil tank. I've only seen a couple 750's that had the oil tank relocated,(typically under the rear cafe cowl & seat), but i'm looking to do a flat seat so my olde lady can still hop on the back when we go hit the pub. not sure if i can have both... Clean minimalist look... & a girl on back.

Arrgh... choices, choices, choices.

The cb350's, 400's and 550s all have wet sump though...(i think), and look CLEAN.

Really?
I think they start changing alot of things around '76-'77, but hey if your just giving it away I'm sure there is something on there I could use.

I appreciate the offer. Let me see what I can do.

Nice find. I am really thinking about picking up a racer like that. Or this

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/1927065265.html

But then i struggle, cause its not really personalized. Old school definitely has some charm and appeal.
