the original problem is most likely a vac leak 2002 mercury sable did the same thing throwing the same code and found a hose on the back side by the fire wall wasn't hooked up any more

Most likely is, may be pcv elbow? get a small piece of new vac hose or clear vinyl tubing about 18-24 inches long and hold one end to your ear and go around the intake area and listen for a loud hissing, there you go, I have a couple smoke machines for this, we use to use carb cleaner and spray around lightly and listen for the engine to rev up, but that is a fire hazard, U dont wanna spray spark plugs with this, lol

put it back together as it was. Mustve just not tightened something down. No more hissing, got its umph back, so far still have the check engine light. Will drive it around for a little bit tonite, and see if it resets. Thanks for the help guys.
