GoPro HD Video Editing

What are you guys with GoPro HD cameras using to edit your videos?

I tried converting from MP4 (H.264, whatever that means) to .wmv and editing in Windows Movie Maker 6.0 which works fine, but after publishing the video freezes during playback in Windows Media Player. Am I missing a codec or someting? All I'm looking to do is trim the videos and add a title.
