I just opened up the garage door and that seemed to work fine. I may have just a couple less brain cells today, but it was fine that way. Basically, don't just don't want to do it inside or use a whole can inside a garage with the door closed.

Good work man, I'll be interested to see how the bondo job turns out, as I will be doing this to my TW tank. I think I will try and pop out the majority of the dent first and fill the creases and cavities because my dent is a little deeper.
Thanks again for the airbox!

Thank you sir and no problem. I think the bondo work will come out pretty good. The sanding and shaping is what really counts so we'll see how i do with that.

The tank is looking good man, as far as the woman seeing that as a problem, she should just be glad they are minis and not big bikes! Let me know when your thinking about selling the new 50, I may have a buyer already.

Haha, she already knows she will have to get used to multiple bikes in the garage. I told her i want to do a business on the side restoring and repairing Honda 50s and slowly grow from there. I'm no Chad just yet but getting close.... kind of.....

Also, PM coming your way about the new 50.

So i've acquired a few more needed parts such as a new taillight, footpeg bracket and the handlebars switches for the blinkers and horn. The handlebar switches i found on ebay from a guy who was selling a lot of parts i could really use. Of course people had to try and shark all my bids at the last minute. asshats.lol. The items i really wanted to get at the least were the headlight that was for sale and these switches and i would have won the headlight had my internet not froze as i was raising my max bid with a minute left. Oh well, at least i got what i was able to get.

This project is taking small steps but it's getting there.

Total build cost to date in new parts:

$624.00

This thing will look great when it's done!

Quick update:

I've located, purchased and recieved a mint condition headlight after searching for a looong time. Cost me a good chunk of change but it will be worth it in the end. I also located and purchased a mint condition horn that was put on ebay the other day. As of right now, i've got about 90-95% of all the parts i need. All that's really left to source is a set of blinkers and my bike will be ready to get inspected and re-registered for the street.

Of course, before all that, the bike will be completely dis-assembled and repainted. I will be riding this thing everywhere.

As a car builder and avid body man, I can tell you you did that tank very incorrect. lol. That metal needs to be popped out, and shrank before you slather a mess of filler on there. And I would have blasted the outside of that tank before bodywork.

How would i pop the metal out? I'm open to helpful suggestions.

depends how jacked it is. if the metal is creased, its going to need heat to bring it out, and cooled to shrink the metal back down. Basically at this point the metal is stretched and it needs to be shrunk down after the metal gets pulled out with a dent puller, or a rigged rod from the inside to pop it out. Several ways to do it, but you're going at this one all wrong brotha. I offered my auto body experience help a long time ago and you told me nah lol

I like to learn things on my own every now and then. Even if it's the hard way or the "wrong" way.

Thanks anyway.

It's been a while since i've touched this thread. But as a quick update, i've got ahead a sourced a small company in Germany that sells replica tanks for this bike and had one tank left. I bit the bullet and bought one for a number a reasons but the main reason is to get things rolling again for this project as it's just been collecting dust.

Additionally, even when i finish up with the bondo work, there will still be small imperfections with the tank. I'm sure it will be noticable after fresh paint in sprayed and i don't want that. I'm doing this project right.

After the tank gets here, it will pretty much be time for fresh paint all around and final re-assembly.

I've also now officially reached the $1,000 mark on what i've spent on parts alone for this bike.
