lonestar college parking. sketchy or not?

i've always been pretty watchful of where i leave my bike unattended for longer than about 15 minutes and seeing as i will have to leave my bike in those parking lots for 2 or 3+ hours at a time, has anyone ever had anything happen to their bikes in the parking lot of any of the lonestar facilities? i have yet to fork up the money for a paging system so i'd have no protection other than my steering lock(which i heard does no good) so thats why i'm worried.

thanks,
chris

Depends on which campus. All of them are ok... I wouldnt trust leaving a ford pinto in the north harris parking lot.

pretty much just invest in some full coverage insurance and a paging device ASAP.

Kingwood seems to have good security and decent bike parking.
North harris is a shithole... that place
Moco has Moto parking right up front and bikes seem to be left alone there

All unattended parking is sketchy. Park at your own risk.

The new university park campus on 249/louetta where compaq used to be has pretty good bike parking spaces. Its right at the front of the stairs where everyone walks so there is always people there. I doubt it will get stolen. Maybe vandalized but most people in college are mature enough to not do that . Also the security center is right above the bike parking spots so that helps a bit. This is all inside a parking garage.

I'm taking a class at the greenspoint campus this semester and you will never find my bike there. If you had to I'd invest in a pair of masterlock street cuffs or a large chain (they sell a couple good ones at CycleGear ) and find a large pole to lock it to. That still won't stop someone from stealing parts off an most of them are real easy to steal. Think seat with 2 bolts etc. I'm prob going to sell my Scorpio 2 way paging alarm if you are interested but that's just bc I don't ride much anymore and it stays in the garage. If you can't afford any of that at least get you a disc lock. They start at 20 bucks and will at least stop someone from rolling off with your bike.
