what I found in riding in full leathers is several things.
1. you do not feel the engine heat or exhaust heat from undertail systems
2. when I was a temporary hood ornament of a buick, I made out with just a bruised foot. protection is well worth it
3. better protection from the elements (ie: rain doesn't sting, sun doesn't burn or dehydrate you)
4. the leather enables you to grip the tank easier with your knees

Like the ad says! Safety and confidence in leathers makes for a better rider I have to admit, it gets a little hot for me sometimes.

Do what you want... who really gives a what anybody thinks about it... it's your leather and your skin... I say dress for the crash to minimize the rash! If I'm around town I'll wear my Kevlar reinforced jeans with knee pads and leather jacket.. when I'm out riding a little harder on the back roads I'll usually wear my leather pants and jacket. I actually find my perferated leather pants much cooler and more comfortable than the jeans anyway. O' and no track day here.. may never make it to one who knows..

i dont wear em. i wear an icon armor jacket, the icon jeans, and boots! and gloves and helmet! no one should hold it against u or judge u for the value you have for being safe! the ones that should be in this poll are the ones that dont wear anything at all! everytime i see someone screaming down the hwy or any road with no helmet and in shorts and t shirt i just say to myself "what a jackass!"

I always thought it was SMART to wear leathers ANYTIME you ride your bike.

I'd be inclined NOT to pull someone wearing leathers... they've obviously got a bit of brain about them, so they praly have other important stuff taken care of like insurance, registration, etc...

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know any shops which have a good range of leather pants in stock? I know places will order for you but I'd really like to just be able to go try on 3 or 4 pairs and compare side by side.

As for the topic - I usually rock a decent mesh/textile jacket and either my jeans if I'm going somewhere to do something where I wanna be more comfortable or kevlar jeans with armor/perf leather jacket if its just for the sake of going for a ride or if its a little more spirited.

Your good man, if it's comfortable then you are golden! I wear a helmet, gloves, boots, and armored jacket with reinforced pants because my leathers are in storage in another city (for the past 2 years). I wear those things because they make me feel comfortable when I ride, I don't ride without them. Your preference of leathers over jeans and jacket (or shorts and t-shirt) are a direct reflection of your sense of responsibility and safety. Leathers are the safest, and if the "glove, shoe , boots, helmet etc. however you phrase it" fits wear it! I wear the same stuff every time I ride, why should you be any different?!
