LEATHERS ON STREET/DAILY?

I have been wanting to ask this for a while but never got a chance. Tonight, it's bugging me, so I need your input MH

Ever since I have gotten leathers, I have been preferring them to any other gear/clothes I have in my closet for riding the motorcycle on the streets of Houston. They fit better and good gawd, they bring out a whole new level of confidence I have never experienced before since I started to ride. All of my other "gear" is either too long or big or small or whatever - I am a big guy (5'6", 280lbs). When home, I ride daily on average about 150 miles to get lunch/dinner in SW Houston from Texas City, and sometimes (like tomorrow), I goto gym on bike and full leathers.

I have never done a trackday (yet) because of my work schedule, but plan on doing them regularly once my work schedule calms down. I don't haul on the street other than a few offramps/corners if I *think* it's safe...I actually ride slow/loosely in straight lines because they are boring.

Does riding in Houston's streets/highways in leathers make me a squid/poser/douchebag/attention wh0re? It doesn't matter what the poll says...I'm still riding in em I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are considering my n00bery.

I wouldn't want my $1,200 suit smelling like after 1 riding season and no track time...

I say no, but I think a suit draws a little more negative attention from po-po.. Since Im guessing most people they see wearing them are usually doing something unlawful (to be put lightly)

Actually I have been pulled over 1x on leathers and 1x in regular street gear. Because I don't wear flashy colors, am fully M-endorsed/insured/EZtagged/registered/inspected, I don't hide my plates, and am an older brown man, I rarely get harassed by popo cop When I was in leathers, the cop had sympathy for me because it was hot as fk (as it always is in Houston) and let me go once everything in my name cleared

Bike and all gear are black and basic.

only if you put on your leathers so you can ride to the nearest starbucks for a latte and then back home to hang them up.

I don't wear them when I commute but I always wear a helmet, jacket, gloves, knee/shin guards, and boots. I always wear my leathers on weekend rides. If I have a crash they're not going to do me any good hanging in the closet.
