Thumbs up Biker helping Biker

I was coming home from clear lake today and I saw two bikers stopped on the beltway, but they were on the opposite side. I wanted to turn around but I already passed the free section and to turn around wouldn't have been feasible.

So I say a prayer for them and hope it works out great.

I continue along my merry little way when I see another bike on the feeder of Beltway 8. It was between tc jester and veterans memorial. He is pushing a yamaha. Its a sports bike but had 3 hard cases. one on either side and one on the passenger seat.

I was thinking that "This must be a sign. No way in I see two downed bikes in one day". So I stop and run back to him. He had the bike up but he said he went down. He didn't have any scratches and the bike didn't either. I trusted him and believed he went down. So I offer to push the bike down the feeder for him. Not a long way. It was about 1/4 mile to the gas station. He says he can put it there. He starts it up and the front wheel rubbed horribly on the forks.

Told him to shut it down, and let me push it. I figured it would be less wear and tear on the bike. He said he would rather just ride it.

Suit yourself buddy. I was in uniform so I directed traffic while he was looking at it and putting it down the road. I see a truck driver with his head below the dash and I scream for him to get in the grass. I thought the bike, my car, and me were all going to get hit. He locks up the breaks skidding to a stop a couple feet from us. I would hate to think what would have happened if me and my car weren't in the way.

People were zooming by and getting dangerously close to us. Even other bikes just rode by.

NO ONE STOPPED.

Turns out the guy was a GM of a luby's. He said anytime I go to his place I get free food.

I say all this to tell you

Always stop and help out a biker. Never know who they are or if your help might just stop another RIP thread.

Ben

The side of the road is an extremely dangerous place.
One driver trying to text and it can get real bad real fast.
Good job helping.

very nice story...
i did the same thing last time i saw a bike on the side of the road on my way back from work.

bike on the side with the guy pushing the bike, then i stop by and see he had a flat, well........i just got a compressor and tire repair kit just for days like this.

got behind him, put my hazers on (one way traffic) plug his tire and put some air.

to me it always fells good to help people out. (even if is 100+ 'f outside and hot )

is always watching us.

I forgot what it felt like to be outside at 12 noon. I stepped outside and instantly poured in sweat. I felt good though. If we don't take care of each other who will?

I applaud you.. Everytime I see a biker having problems I will at least stop and see if I can help. You never know, one day it might be you.

Nah I didn't think it was a good time to pitch the website.

I was just focused on making sure he wasn't another headline.
