Fuel Injection Sync

I've got an 09 R6 and I was just looking through the manual at the periodic maintenance section. One of the recommendations is the following

Item - Fuel Injection
Routine - Adjust synchronization
Interval - Every 4,000 miles

What exactly is this? Is it the same as a throttle body sync? Is it doable without special tools?

If it's running fine don't worry about it.
