Capirossi's GP5 to be Auctioned Off

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Articl...ID=3479&Page=1

"Having already driven the less affluent Ducatisti mad with its planned release of the exclusive Desmosedici RR, Ducati is ready to push them over the edge with word that Loris Capirossi's 2005 Sepang-winning MotoGP machine will be auctioned off during Laguna Seca. The GP5 will be the crown jewel of this year's Monterey Classic Bike Auction, with auction organizers expecting the bidding to potentially hit the $500,000 mark. Come on folks, time to cash in those 401Ks and start bidding!"

, i don't think any bike is worth that much. i don't care who it belonged to and what they did on it. even if i were rich, what would you do with it? if you break something you're screwed, it's a prototype!

YEah, the ONLY way I would buy it (if I was rich enough) is if they could provide spares, cuz I'd be taking it to some trackdays.

Well, it's the collectors value that will fetch a price like that. Kinda like art, ya know? If you think thats crazy, you should watch some of those Barrett Jackson auctions on Speed Channel and see what they get for some of those real rare muscle cars. Crazy stuff.
