Rebuilt title/ registering bike

Have a buddy who purchased a bike with a salvage title from auction. Bike has all fairings and runs with no problems and was a easy fix. I was under the impression he could just take the bike down to local dmv to show that the bike is in complete operating condition and maybe sign a few papers and thats it. He was told by someone else that its a long hectic process...

Anybody here ever went thru the process??? What all has to be done in order to get the bike registered and street legal? Does it cost a lot of money or about the same as registering a bike with a title? I thought it was simple and straight forward but I have never done the process so maybe im wrong..

Do you physically have to take the bike to dmv or no?

Obviously some have not been through the rebuild / title process.

1) Rebuild bike
2) Have inspected by Inspection Station (get green sheet if from out of state)
3) Take all paperwork (title, inspection (plus gs if applicable), and rebuild affidavit)
4) Pay to get TX Rebuilt Titls (there are no taxes for the person rebuilding bike, but there is a rebuild fee, title transfer fee, and current registration).

I hope this helps....

BTW, when are you coming to pick up your bike. She is calling...
