Going out on a limb here, but could it be the rectifier?

I don't know bro, it's so hard to diagnose electrical problems even when you are there in person.
It might be the battery, might be the voltage regulator, could be the rectifier.

My advice is to take it to Motorcycles Unlimited. Patrick and his guys are knowledgeable, fair and honest. (ask anybody on this forum) He is a site sponsor and sponsors the Bike Of The Month too.
I can't speak for him but I'm pretty sure if you take it to his shop he will look at it for free and give you a fair price to repair.

Oh yeah, been there and he does good work. But it is just such a long drive from Crosby. Hopefully take it to them but not until next weekend when I get paid and have a day off.

ok, update. Finally have a day off. Just check on the bike and reconnected the jumper cables and the bike started just fine, while it was running, i disconnected the cables and she still ran but you can see the lights were dim. Well I turned the bike off and left the cables connected, gona let her sit there for awhile and try to restart her too see if she will. I know these bikes have a alternator on them to charge the battery. what should the volts be on the battery with the bike running?

Ok, after a little more messing around with the bike, noticed that the battery has a 11.7 volt reading but as soon as I turn the key to the on position, the battery drops to 0 volts. Anybody know what this may mean?

Ok, again. Jump started the bike ran around the block, she ran fine but the instrument cluster rpm would drop to zero and the lights on the cluster would dim. They would pop up and down, rpm's would work and lights would work, then rpm drop too zero and lights dim to nothing.

Where does the electrical power come from when the bike is running? The battery or the alternator? Any input will help here.
