Question inspecting wrecked bike frame

Just a curious question -

When one gets a bike frame inspected for damage is it just visual?
or is there a place that can scan the frame? like x-ray the welds? or some other method?

Your not gonna get x rays. I can tell you that. There is no scan for the frame either. It would be a straight visual inspection.

You could get some die penetrant and check the welds... go over with a fine tooth comb and magnifying glass.

Main thing is inspect real well for any signs of impacts, and use a straight edge thru the steering neck and a degree wheel to verify it's parallel to the main frame..

Check out GMD Computrack in Atlanta. That's the kind of measurement you need if you want to be sure. In around a month our new Dallas Computrack location should be up & running.
