It's crazy when you think these type of crowds showed up EVERY sat night...there was no posting of threads or advertisement etc... It was just KNOWN this was where to be on sat nights if you rolled on a sportbike.

I'm sure it will never be like this again but...maybe if we get enough participation, we can start something up again....atleast until they run us off.

I have a few more pics from JCI, but not sure if they are in a box at my place, or the ex's house. I have to check.

I remember the sheriff that always stood at the door, doing "rent-a-cop" duty. I think it was SGT (??) Spillars, or Spillers.. one of the two. awesome guy.

The main reason JCI lost a lot of interest was boiled down to two things (from what I remember)

.Crappy owner attitude (NOT from JCI). once JCI bikers started flowing into the adjacent parking lot, it was tolerated for a while. but after about a year or so, the owners of the strip center/parking lot started to shoo away bikes. Basically there was way too many bikes to fit in the JCI parkinglot, and the next lot over was fiercely guarded as a no-no zone :( with no place to go, they went elsewhere, and I guess the JCI spot slowly dwindled out. ( and the WAL-MART raid, with the cars, had a lot to do with it was well)

. SHEER HOOLIGANISM: After a while it became a huge circus event just about. There was a lot of stupidy going on, and a ton of accidents/deaths in general. It was sad to show up, see all the familiar faces, but maybe one or two missing. you ask "is he showing up tonight?" and all you get is "you didnt hear.....?"

after a while I got tired of the "you didn't hear...?'s, and stopped going. It was just about every weekend during it's high point. (for me)

I will say "times have changed" though :P one time, a black rider rode up (and we all silently laughed at this "californian" roller derby look) He had on a back/chest protector, knee pads/shin pads, elbow pads. All outside of his clothing. "uhhhh wtf, this guy thinks he's MAD MAX :P".

Funny. we laughed at him for wearing kneepads/elbowpads, now look at us today.

Every Wednesday they get hundreds and hundreds of bikes showing up. Average is 700 to 800 with a max last year of 1400...and that's EVERY Wednesday during the riding season. It's a complete mix of bikes too...superbikes to British throwbacks.

If Houston could get something like this going in a central location, not this Northside/Southside bullshit, we could have hundreds if not thousands of bikes showing up. Seems like the biggest hurdles are business owners not wanting to help out and more importantly ruining it for everyone. I hope this takes off because it could be a lot of fun for everyone.

I may have to stop up if it's not raining.

Oh and Allegheny County, where this takes place, has a quarter of the people that Harris County alone has...
WHere would everyone park?

C'mon guys, surely we can get more then 11-12 bikes for a MnG in a centralized area.....I am sure PP1 has twice that many every fri/sat night...

Instead of reminiscing, sign em up.

Actually I talked to an old riding buddy yesterday, he says he can get about 12-15 bikes to roll also....but you know how that goes....we need atleast 30-40 bikes so other riders on westhiemer will see the activity...
