Buying a Bike from a guy in Dallas

okay -

so umm i want to buy a bike from this guy in Dallas.

What do you guys think is the best way to do this...

I have an accord... not a truck- just FYI.

Do i get a truck from Uhaul?
Is getting it shipped better? (too risky and I dont want him to think i am trying to scam him)..

Any help is appreciated.

get a receiver for your car and a cheap trailer. You may need it later anyways. If you don't want to do that, I would go uhaul.

Check the vin beforehand, make sure its clean and in his name.

check the full bike over and see if it has been dismantled etc. Either rent a truck or ride it back.

We picked up my last one in Arlington leaving Houston at 5 and returning at 11 on an SWC Tuesday night lol

+1

Receiver from uhaul is around $125 for a car. Then you can use it for trackdays in the future.

Man o Man o Man....

you guys are Amazing!

Thanks so much for the input/ help offered...

Its a 2005 gsxr 600...

I had the exact same one about two years ago and got robbed at a street light... (gun point) ... sage and richmond.

Anyway - i had the matching gear and all and i loved the color combo so wanted to get the same thing... i finally found one in dallas which is affordable... and wanting to buy it...

The option of riding it back doesnt really work for me - since i have never ridden that long before - and my back kinda aches if i ride for too long.

I will communicate more with the guy and let you guys know how this goes through.

Thanks again.

You can do strength training at the gym to build up you back muscles. It will definitely help, unless you have some type of injury of course. You should also do neck strengthening exercises. I use to get neck strains in the past from riding on the freeway before I did them.

I would probably trailer the bike from Dallas to Houston. I don't think it would be very much fun!

If your back hurts, work on your stomach muscles and posture on the bike. Strong stomach helps support the back a lot more than people realize.

Only "caveat" is I am out of town till next Weds, so plan accordingly. Who is the guy in Dallas? I bought my 12R from a guy in Ft. Worth

I'll be leaving for Dallas around 5 today, if you need me to get it let me know before then if possible! If you make other plans and wind up needing me to bring it back just PM me for my cell I can always pick up a uhaul trailer while I'm there.

So ur the guy that got jacked there. Man I heard all kinds of rumors/stories about a guy getting jacked there by 3 black guys in a car that was behind him at the light. I can't remember if I heard it from someone or read it....but everytime I ride to my buddies house close by I can't help to think about it. Sorry to hear about that!!

Either way I would go see and ride the bike before u buy cuz pics can hide alot of imperfections. Seems like u got all the help u need from ppl here. Good luck

I'm down for a road trip to dallas. Not doing anything anyways. Have a truck, ramps, and plenty of spare time.

okay - lets try this one more time....

anyone wanna help me get a bike from dallas this weekend?..

Sat - 13th.

I need someone to haul it back with me... not ride it...
and if that someone is experienced with looking at bike to examine if everything is okay - thats a HUGE plus... since i am really not that great with it...

I am more than happy to buy you breakfast, lunch and pay for gas....

I will consider this a HUGE favor... a HUGE HUGE favor.... can one of you riders help me get back on two wheels after 3 years....??

thanks..
