Hit and Run Arrest

On Saturday, 08/07/2010, at approximately 7:00 PM, officers from the Richmond Police Department responded to a major accident in the 100 block of Highway 90A in Richmond. Investigation showed that a Rosenberg man riding a motorcycle was traveling Eastbound on Highway 90A when he was hit by a pickup truck that was turning onto Highway 90A from Grayless. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Oak Bend Emergency Room where Life Flight was waiting to take him to Memorial Hermann in Houston due to serious head injuries. The driver of the pick up truck did not stop at the scene of the accident. After witnesses described the truck to the investigating officers, the truck was located in the 1200 block of Herman Drive in Richmond. Officers found some old citations in the truck which led them back to an address in the 100 block of Highway 90A. The driver of the truck, identified as Juan Francisco Nieto-Jimenez, 21, of Richmond, was located at that address. Nieto was issued a citation for No Driverís License and arrested and charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aide, a 3rd degree felony. Nieto-Jimenez was transported to the Fort Bend County Jail for holding.

The driver of the motorcycle, Michael Levitz, 30, of Rosenberg, was in stable condition with multiple injuries at Memorial Hermann in Houston at the time of this report.

yup, some attorney will be appointed for him and they will say the truck was stolen hours before, in fact, he didnt even notice it was gone yet so he didnt call and report it.
I wonder if he is in our country legally? just a whim and a little profiling on my part I guess.

This happens all them time unfortunately. It will probably happen more with the influx of Arizona's permanent tourist... All we can do is gear up and ride smart.

, glad they found and caught the . Hope he gets everything that's coming to him. Hope the rider has a full recovery and bills paid too. Sucks this kind of still happens. I don't believe someone deserves their life if they hit someone like that and decide to flee. Pathetic.

Dunno, are you? As far as the individual in the article, based on previous statistics and trends, I think it would be safe to believe that someone who flees an accident site with no license raises enough suspicion to question the legality of their residence, no?
