I rode it for 6yrs on the west side champions to parramatta twice a day afterwork during rush hour for the gym; then your side(going to hak.) Ive only had 2 things happen to me ever on a bike I didnt see well before they made a move; but since I plan accordingly I always had a place to move.

If people pay attention and watch the cars around them more there would be less accidents. I see things way before others that are riding around me and they always wonder why.

I feel you. I scan constantly. I am not distracted by things, and I am always aware of what is going on around me.... even in random situations, outside of riding a motorcycle. Being keen on your surroundings could greatly alter the outcome of any potential incident. Call it O.C.D., but I call it safe.

I live (when I am not in college) at the other end of 1960.. pretty much from anywhere on 1960 from 45 to 249 is a nuthouse. I will take any selection of road that parallels 1960 just to avoid it.

Though early sunday morning from 8-10 is NICE! (empty as .)

I don't think anyone made the assumption that you always have control... what was implied was to improve situational awareness which in turn helps you have better odds. Perhaps you might re-read what was said. "Could greatly alter", not "will greatly alter."

Enjoy

Kids name is Kyle Miller. Dad overhead police saying that a 17yr old girl driving the jeep cut two people off trying to get to the turn lane. So probably didn't even look when she bolted accross to the other side. They are saying it's her fault even if he was speeding that fast.

This always me off. If the rider was indeed going 100, it would have been hard for her to avoid that correctly or even to think about it (its just not expected for someone to show up that quick to the same spot as you at the same time). If the rider was going at a more sane speed, then thats a different story.

I ride 1960 often, and am glad they put the center dividers...you only have to watch out for left turning vehicles at specific locations.

To the rider... R.I.P.

Because you pay attention. I ride it everyday also and I have had some close calls. It is not a road to ride relaxed on.

People are going to ride as they are no matter what road your on. Choose your rides/times to ride those locations wisely.

yup! i've been on it prob 5 times this summer, EVERY time something funky happens. ambulance running through intersection, ppl switchin lanes last sec. to avoid slow in traffic.

it sucks, but u HAVE to go close to the speed limit there. give u time to react, and dodge incoming SUV's. that road is a nightmare

1960 is dangerous enough just cruising along.
Some reason squids think it's a good place to act a fool.
This was probably one of the guys we watched fly by whiskey river in second gear pinned wide open.

I blame the model of bike he was on..

I bet he spelled his bike model as GIXXER instead of gsxr

I always thought that was just that bike's normal nickname, like Yammy, or Duc, Kawi, Busa etc.
