06-07 ZX10 how are they?

does anybody know how reliable these bikes are? Is there any common issues to look for in these models. I really considering getting one. also how comfortable are they, I like to take some long rides on my ZX6 and i will be contiuing the tradition with what ever bike i get next.

Thaaaaanks

I have a 1st gen, so I wouldn't be the most knowledgable, but check out www.zx-10r.net the only thing I can think of as a downfall, if any, is I heard that the stock stabilizer isn't as up to par as aftermarket ones, but a rebuild is roughly $100 and they put heavier oil to increase it's damping force.

I never even heard that the second gen 10r's had a weak 2nd gear, so I would imagine that it has been worked out. Kawasaki's aren't known to have the smoothest transmissions though...going from nuetral to 1st, you will always get the infamouse "KLUNK!"

The biggest issue with the 06-07 is the front brakes are weak/spongy on alot of them. Not all of them had it but alot complain about it. But is a super easy fix. All you have to do is find a set of nissin calipers off an 07-08zx6r or zx14 or a set of 06-07 cbr1000rr calipers and (4) 5mm spacers and they will bolt right on. Other than that, i absolutely love mine

got 20k on mine, i got from member dlsgap. zero problems.
it's my only transpo and i put a min. of 500 miles a week when i have work.
the riding position has me leaving early to avoid sitting in traffic. aint crazy about the wheel barrow exhaust but that'll change soon. sadly not a lot of offerings for aftermarket pipes though. besides a bs yosh, there's brocks (way too fkn loud), ti-force. maybe a couple others. i'll likely get another tsukigi.
power? coming from 3 busa's to this, i aint dissapointed one bit. can sure sling it thru traffic easier. brakes are pretty sweet too.

Go for it. The 06/07 is a beast. It's a tad heavier than the 05, but you'll easily adjust to it. Plus, if you're a light weight, unlike myself (240 lbs), you can do some damage on a straight away. Also, it corners well for a 1000. My only gripe is the undertail exhaust, but there is this thing called "Aftermarket". If you have some extra $$$$, run a full Akropovic on it and go sho you azz!!!!!!

I love mine. I bought an 06 with under 300 miles and it has been great. Stock brakes suck. I added 06 CBR calipers with the spacers and also SS lines and it is perfect now. Mine has a two bros CF single exhaust. Sounds mean as with a little VP fuel.

It's a good time now as you can get good deals on upgrades. I got an Ohlins rear from IndySuperbikes delivered for $930. I believe Leo Vince has some nice full exhuast out there for around $500-$600 if you shop around and are patient.

I went off at TWS (Texas World Speedway) in turn 12 at 95-100 mph. Bike low sided when I tucked the front. I was a dumbass trying to get a little more life from my tires. Damage was cosmetic and I was able to get all the parts I needed fairly cheap. I even got a full set of painted Attack bodywork (missing undertray) with a Kevlar CF tank on order from a ZX10R.net member for a very fair price. Great site for advice and parts.

Here is a link to a post for new ZX10R owners. A little bit smart @$$.

I don't want to thread jack...so, I will post up a thread when I get it done. I took a bunch of pics post low side. I also have everyhting off it now and will shoot pics of that. If all the parts come in, I am going to try to take it to Barber Thursday for the weekend with Ride Smart, if not, I'll be taking the KTM hopefully.

Here is a link to the post of the bodywork.

I may be selling all the black left over body parts when I get back, if so, you have first shot at the fender.
