Everything is worth what someone will pay for it. If you don't like the price, exercise your power to NOT buy it. You can't mad at someone simply because he isn't willing to sell something for what you're willing to pay.

Since you put it that way!

I wonder how much an '08 stretched/custom Busa would get if it was listed on a scrapbooking forum? It probably wouldn't even sell even if the price was $2000!

Stop negotiating in emails. Make offers in person cash in hand. Otherwise you're just wasting your time.

Good advice. I think if I was selling I'd want to see the cash in front of me too instead of making deals by email. Being up in the Spring/Tomball area, some sellers are an hour away (or more). I guess that's a small price to pay for getting a good deal though.

I was able to reduce the price on my old triumph by 70%. I talked to the seller on the phone, found out he was desperate, went to see the bike, and talked him down from 4500 to under 2k. Cash talks when you need to pay bills.

as a guy who sells a lot of bikes............

Its starts getting pretty insulting when you constantly get calls & emails making lowball offers. Sometimes I don't even think they're really interested in buying the thing. They just want to see how low you'll go. If it is something you're really interested in buying, you should evaluate it in person.

If someone has at least taken the effort to come see my bike, I'm a whole lot more open to hear what they have to offer.

Ugh. I wouldn't pay $2k for that myself.

And so there it is again....

If I'm not hurting for money, I'll price the item higher then normal... if someone wants it bad enough, they will pay it. i may even have to hold on to it for a while, but the right buyer will come along with the gotta have it now attitude and the cash to do it

So as a seller, you don't want the buyer to know you're hard-pressed and need to sell. As a buyer, you don't want the seller to know you love the bike. Do I have that right?
