Cbr Help

I am looking into buying a bike, its an 05 cbr 600 f4i it was flooded during ike and the insureance company totaled it due to the fact the repaires exeeded the value of the bike i guess thers not damage to the frame its in good shape.
the owner said i could go down to the dmv and get a salvage title, now what i want to know is this, can i get it transfered to my name or do i have to rebuild it first and then get it inspected my a DPS officer then get it in my name how does this work??

I have an '09 Raven Yamaha FZ6 that I'll sell to you for $5,800. I bought it 2 months ago and have since bought a CBR1000RR. It has less than 350 miles on it.

100% agree unless your getting it for literally a couple hundred. u would need complete harness, prob ecu, posibly a motor, if it sat in water then posibly even calipers and more....

Yea dude, I'd keep searching for a newer bike.

Yes once you get it running you fill out a form at "DMV" and they will cut you a title

ok cool so the title would be a salvage rebuilt title after i get it running, yes?? the frames aluminium so the salt water would not affect the chassis would it?? i would have to do a total rebuild, the frame and forks are good the motor is no good the electronics are no good. is this bike worth rebuilding you think??

Some answers:
Salt water will cause corrosion (and waekening) of aluminum. I see it all the time in my line of work.

Some of the parts will have value greater than $150.

It will take a LOT of work to rebuild a bike that was flooded in Ike. I would be concerned with how long it has sat since the flood event.

I salvage certificate can be issued on the bike, and if the bike is rebuilt, then a rebuilt salvage can be obtained through the tax office.
