I am not following on some of you saying they stay off the track due to money.. I read it several times, I'm still not seeing it..

Only thing that I see, is how the rider said, he did track days, until they opened up for regular "joe street rider" and swamped the place. I dont see anything about it due to money (or tires) as the cost, why they stopped. just that they were now having to share a track with "anybody"..and it was a madhouse (more or less ,my take, not a quote))

It's interesting that the speedo stopped at 186mph but the tach still climbed for another 500-750 rpm. Hmm, maybe NOT limited to 186 but it just tells you it is.

as with all bikes, the speedo looked to be way off, probably the 186 was more like 140.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't know who verified the speed and you are right it is a little suspect since it was likely the idiots that ride this way.
However, all the magazine tests have rated the BMW S1000R as the most poerful of the current crop of supersports bikes and the idea that it can attain or even exceed the 186mph limit that mfrs worldwide have self imposed is not far fetched. In fact, it's expected.
I can see by your reference to "all bikes" and the oxymoron that is your screen name that you may be a little hostile to non-harley bikes.
I should point out that BMWs are not "" bikes but are made in Germany.

not hostile to the bikes but "most" speedos are way off. i"ve seen a suzuki m109 off the show room floor register 83 at a actual 70 mph. my dyna is 2 mph fast at 70 by gps. if you look at the scenery in the video not the speedo it sure dont look anything over 140. just my personal opinion bwtfdik.

as if HDs were much better, but then again most don't top out over 80 so the incorrectness is really of no consequence. and i bet HD makes it even worse so HD riders feel like they're going faster then they really are.

I don't understand something.
You just joined this forum and you are acting hostile to the majority of members (most of us ride "" bikes).
Did you come here to stir controversy or interact with like minded riders?
Do you want to meet people who share your 2 wheel passion and maybe makes some new riding buddies?
Do you want to share information and learn about other aspects of the sport?

OR are you just looking to people off by being abrasive, and make your self feel better by running down the way they choose to ride?
We don't slam Harleys here, in fact many of our members ride cruisers and we even have a "Cruiser" forum, maybe easing up and joining the discussion with less attitude would help.

This just makes me realize I need to hurry up and de- restrict the Busa. The factory limit isnt doing it for me anymore. Its time for 200+.
