What's expensive?

Both the accidents with the Fieldsheer jackets were over 50. One was a lowside over 100; the other was a highside in a turn (I wasn't on the ride, so I have no idea the speed, but am fairly certain it was well over the speed limit). The highside accident ate the jacket, but the jacket came out beautifully in the lowside.

The MSRP on the jacket was around 500, but I got lucky on ebay. The starting bid was 200, and no one else bid on it.

Yeah, I saw the jacket and there was no noticeable damage. I thought your "hostage (LOL)" told me that he was sliding on dirt and grass though. Did I misunderstand what was said Squoddy? All I know was that the Joe Rocket mesh jacket I had got pretty up at 50.

He slid on gravel, but Ty highsided on the road in a turn and I know he was going well over the posted speed limit. His jacket was torn up, though. He was fine. It was a Fieldsheer.

, I've seen a leather Dianese rip straight across the chest in a fairly low speed low side. So obviously the price you pay does not make for a better or worse jacket.

I have no idea about new Fieldsheer - got my three a little over a year ago for supa-cheap! Best deals I have made yet!

I think a lot of it has to do with how you hit the pavement as well. I have been pretty lucky in my accidents; it seems each time I made contact with the ground rather smoothly, with the armor taking most of the impact.

Well let's hope and pray that I don't become a jacket test dummy poster child, but let's be real.. it's better for me to have one now than want it later.. lol Thanks for all the good feedback. I think for now I'll get the mesh.. Gonna check out Motorcycles Unlimited and see what they have.

I like the Cortech GX Air. Well vented with leather on elbows, shoulders and back.
