Inspection Sticker

I took my bike to Kwik car lube to get an inspection tag. Was denied and told that I needed that metal piece that goes with the plate for the inspection tag. I told them to put in on the swing arm instead but they said it was against the law. Does anybody know any bike friendly state inspection shops in SW Houston?

There was a thread about this on the R1-Forum. A number of guys from Texas put it on the swing-arm, or even front forks. When I bought mine from the dealer (new), the salesman asked if I wanted it on the swing-arm.

Mr. Sticker told me that it doesn't matter where you put the sticker as long as it is easily visible to the DPS when you are pulled over. He said they can't read it without stopping you anyways. Mine is on my chain cover on the swingarm.

This is true. When I was pulled over by three cruisers on 59S on my way to Gander MTN, the officers didnt even bother me for having my inspection tag underneath my seat. They also let me go without a ticket for speeding. (Had all my gear on and paperwork straight. Maybe the CHL also helped)

CHL's are tied into your drivers license number....When they run your DL you come up in the system in red as a CHL holder.

Inspection on the swingarm here as well.

most dont care, from what I can tell. they ask "where is you sticker?" point to the swing arm, and that was it.

if you wanna give them something to pull you over for, go for it on the swingarm!

just they haven't doesn't mean they can't.

Well they told me to show that all the lights worked, made me go 20mph in the parking lot and stop to test out the brakes i guess, and ofcourse asked for my insurance. When it was time to put the tag on the bike, they refused cause I didnt have thay metal plate for the inspection tag.

well i should be good, but when i asked my uncle about this (retired cop) he said it would be fine as long as its visible, but there will of course be cops that'll have a bad day and ticket you for it.

not too sure about the shop not wanting to put it on there though
