RIP Gregory Hundl

July 24, 2010
(HOUSTON, TX) - An off-duty Harris County Sheriff's Detention Officer was killed this morning after a drunk driver struck the motorcycle he was riding.
The accident happened at about 6:30 a.m.
Detention Officer Gregory Hundl had just finished working the night shift at 701 San Jacinto and was headed home on his motorcycle. He was stopped at a red light on the service road of Highway 59 and Aldine Bender when a speeding vehicle struck him from behind. Detention Officer Hundl was thrown off of his motorcycle some 80-100 feet. He was transported by ambulance to LBJ Hospital where he died. The driver of the vehicle, an intoxicated 19 year-old female, Michele Renee Arnold, was also taken to the hospital for a mandatory blood draw. She was later transported to an HCSO substation where a breathalyzer test determined she had a blood alcohol content of 0.147. The driver is currently being booked at the Harris County jail for intoxication manslaughter.
Detention Officer Gregory Hundl, 25, had been with the Harris County Sheriff's Office since 2008. He worked at 701 San Jacinto as a jailer.
Our thoughts and prayers go to the Hundl family

the EU doesn't have this problem as much as we do and their drinking age is 16 Albeit their driving age is 18, but she would have fallen in this category since she is 19.

Sad news anyway. Sucks she was so young she probably just ruined her life.

Fixed. Unfortunately, this will get to live a full life, while more difficult perhaps, at least she'll still have hers, while the innocent man's is now over, and his family has to deal with it.

Sad indeed. RIP and good luck to the family moving on from this. Terrible. I truely hope that gets the worst of it. No excuses for this at all.

I didn't say that. But as sad as it is, his life is over now. I hope his family has the strength to cope with this, but it doesn't change the fact that this 19 year old girl will most likely live a long life

I dont give a about HER life. What about the life of the man she killed because she's just too special to make sure she was sober?
