Did you high center the bike or did the front end tuck?

Not text book body position but isn't way off par doubt it would of saved the low side even if i had my elbow in shoulder out further.... but either way it is a good example of how much lean we are talking about before a lowside from leveraging off the sets....

Let the bashing begin...

Looks like your shoulders are turned. As if you were rotated around the tank in a bad way. Like you said tho. If your upper body werent border-line crossed up. Then you prob woulda been ok

Was this in the horse shoe? Ur way off the line, but I've got pics of me doing the same thing lol

By that I don't mean the rider should feel like he's riding a Goldwing or something, but that you should be relaxed and comfortable. If you're listening to somone who preaches "the" body position, caveat emptor.

If you're leaned over on a motorcycle in a corner and your toes are pointed outward, you're probably going to drag 'em once you lean over far enough. That said, there are plenty of fast guys out there that ride with their toes pointed outward, just like there are plenty of fast guys that ride "crossed up" on the motorcycle instead of the "textbook" way.

If you're dragging your toes and don't want to, then don't point your toes out. If you have stock rearsets and feel like they are too low and your dragging your toes, get some aftermarket rearsets and raise 'em up.

For me it didn't matter if I had my toes pointed in, out, up, or down, with stock pegs I was dragging them and my rearsets; they were simply too low. Seems to be pretty consistent with every other person I know who has an '06+ 600 or 750 GSXR once they get to a certain level of proficiency on track.
YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!

I find myself looking through all sorts of photos/videos studying body position and I see text book examples of what to do but, I see text book examples of what not to do but, some how it works for the rider. There seems to be no "one size fits all" answer to this.

FWIW my stock sets are on the highest setting.

Who knows... I'm still about 90% sure I was gonna bust my either way it was to much speed corner was tightening up still so I wouldn't blow 11.... oh well pic still shows the point of how much lean a bike can take with rear sets before you leverage on them.

Here we go peeps. Some hard core video to see what I'm doing wrong. IMO I need to get off the seat more.

Here ya go.. This is me playing around. Im normally not that far off the bike, but the more I get to that position the better it feels, and the less it feels like im "working" to get through a corner

Just for comparison.. btw im slow, and im not that good

Edit: im a big guy too 6' 1'' 230. Its not easy to get down into that position. My belly hangs out too much

Wish I could hang off that far, I can only hang out about 2" more then i am in the pic, I'm short only 5'5" arms arn't long enough to hang way off like that....

Sounds like my first lowside. Except mine was on the street at 40mph. Jury is still out on the cause of that one....

I bet if you spread your legs you could hang off more.

All I can lean out is 2" more and then my left arm is locked, has nothing to do w/ spreading legs... If I did spread my legs more where would my leg go? Through the ground?

Also the reason I don't try to get that last 2" is because if my arm is locked and my front tucks on me for a second then I'm going to be pulling the bar back and I'll wreck. If I have a little bend in my arm and the front pushes out just a bit then my arm can give a little first before I pull the bar and save going down possibly.

I in no way make claim to having perfect form, but I'm not to far off par, not enough that I think it would make any real difference.... but who knows I do still get passed so I must be doing something wrong

Here is another pic of my body position, it always looks better from opposite sides for everyone... just FYI
