Roads to ride in Austin/New Braunfels?

I'm taking a trip to the river this weekend with some friends and I'm no familiar with the area out there but know that there has to be some gorgeous riding out there. I love scenic routes and twisties and wanted to know if anyone had any "must ride" suggestions for that area?

Also there is a few parks like cranes mill, potter creek and canyon park that provide some pretty nice views...

Like tight twists and unexpected turns dangerous or hobos with shanks and spike strips that hate Japanese sport bikes?

no, like dangerous like there is deep banks next to a road... and in several places there is gravel spread around the road.

lime creek is more north austin near lake travis... I have only gone on it on a mustang cruise..

I can see how it would be dangerous.. i was picking gravel out of my drag radials for days.. LOL

I think I took 46 across to New Braunfels from Boerne years ago. If I remember right that Rd had some good turns and elevation change.

, I just checked out a map of lime creek road and it looks pretty sick! I can see how it may have some steep banks and drop off, more than half of it is "S" turns right next to the lake. I'll be sure to set up the gopro cam on the tank and try to get some decent video. Definitely looks like it could eat you up... I'll be etching out for the hobos too though

Take the speed limit signs seriously I have a few friends that live near lake travis and they always tell me of how a biker ends up in a ditch because he thinks he can take that 15mph turn at 40..

Scout it first and then give it the way back..

Beware of Lime Creek Road. I cannot tell you how many people I have scooped up off there. There have been several deaths through the years there. Thats the road that couple riding 2 up died on not too long ago from Houston.

Very tricky if you are not used to it.

I love alot of the food in this town, most of the pizza places here are hand made local pizza shops, Gils broilers has some good hamburgers.. and the root cellar has some of the best food in town..

then again I am a food addict, it is a wonder I am still skinny..

Herberts was just down the street from work and the Google reviews were promising. The 1st time I went there, they closed at 9:30pm even though there website said 10pm. The 2nd time I went there, there was a long wait...people were stuffed in that little waiting area they have in the front of the restaurant. I was 1 person so no wait for me. I ordered an Enchilada Plate with an Horrrrrrrchata. The Horchata was weak. The chips were greasy/chewy (stale) and the sauce was WAYYYY too hot, but not a bad thing. The enchiladas are what they are known for I suppose...they were ok. The only *good* thing I enjoyed about the restaurant was the vinegary green chile sauce they topped the enchilada plate with - pretty distinct. That aside, I don't see what the big deal is. Who cares if big stars go there to eat...place is a dump!

Now Palmers wasn't too bad...very California-like. Wasn't AWESOME but it wasn't bad either.

1 day I drove to San Antonio to go eat at India Oven (in N San Antonio by the airport - ZAGAT rated) and twice I went to Macaroni and Grill in South Austin to eat. That's how limited I felt in San Marcos when examining The Deelish.

Lots of nicely tanned tail in your hood I guess it must be UT San Marcos

My buddy did it in his MR2 and lost it on one of the decreasing radius turns. Mid-engine vehicle response is hyperactive on those roads!
