Dyno Tunned the 09 R1 Today.

Had the R1 Dyno Tunned today, Just as I thought it was running extremely rich with the map I got from powercommander.com. Gained around 7hp and 5ftlbs of torque from having it tunned. The dyno results aren't all that impressive (Underpowered for a liter bike IMO), however they said thats pretty much what all the new R1's have been getting that they have tunned. They also stated they Humidity was extremely high and not a good day to tune it, and I could come back on a less humid day and get the number up to 153hp, but I figure its always humid here and I can tell a huge differance with the tune already. Can't wait for a SMR to really test the tune.

Dont feel so bad after looking at these...

146 1004 012010 literbikes horsepower
146 1004 012010 literbikes torque

Source... http://www.sportrider.com/news/146_1.../photo_07.html

2010 liter bike dyno's... Looks like my numbers are close to what they dynoed at, but I'm sure those are bone stock.

Weird got my 08 1000RR dynoed 3 different places all of them had 155.4 give or take 1 HP difference. For all that junk most people talk about that new R1 engine I figured it had more HP then the Honda

Wow, just finished a Gix 1K and delivered 171 with mods, against 162 stock. Delivered 203 with the spray.

Stock, seems to line up well against the other L bikes.

Dyno charts have been known to break hearts. I too have been hurt by a chart. There are many factors that can make a difference. Tire pressure, fuel, tire weight, air quality, heat, and chain length/weight.

The crossplane engined R1 uses a balance shaft to control vibration which saps rear wheel horse power!
It's not just about the horsepower, it's about drive-ability and user friendliness too.

I love how the power is smooth and predictable, Love how the bike handles, Just not too excited that the newer R1's have less Power than the old R1's...

Get the rest of the power back with their ecu unleashed thingy. American R1s are limited in the top gears to something like 80% throttle (they're drive-by-wire).

On that note the 08 1000RR handles better then any other bike I've ridden

Fair enough, but that Honda handles like sexual chocolate on 2 wheels. Almost as if MACK turned into a motorcycle

A 50 shot feels pretty good. Looks sweet on a chart too.

That is the perfect example of why HP numbers are not all that important. The BMW has 25HP over the R1 and only 2 tenths faster around the track. The Honda took that track though!
