How big a part does sound play in choosing a bike??

I love the sound of a screaming 600 il4, but at TWS (Texas World Speedway) at the weekend everytime one of those big bang cross plane R1's came by it was just heavenly
It's not the biggest consideration by a long chalk but I'm sure it plays a part in the buying/choosing process....

A well sorted parallel twin sounds like nothing else. But i'd never buy a bike because of how it sounded.

i think it should sound like total when i buy it so i can weasel the price down because of this as if it actually mattered, later putting the exhaust of my choice on it, which i would have done anyway.

He's kidding. I think he's still making fun of those 18 year old kids that work the parts counter.

No, not true at all. Some people like the vibrations as well.

If two bikes did everything I wanted them to do, and one sounded better, well, I'd buy the one that sounded better.
It all adds to the experience.

I doubt Ferrari would sell many cars if they sounded like a John Deere.
