Harris county medical examiner's office. If the person died suddenly, then there would have been an autopsy. If they were under a doctor's care (didn't have to be in the hospital) and died at home they would have done an inquest and would also have record of that.

713-796-6815

Call them and give them the name of the person and they can look it up. If that doesn't work PM me and I'll send you my # and get it done for you.

My uncle and my brother in law are morticians and they said that if you were a relative, you could go to the Houston office for records (Health Dept) and request the death certificate. But since you are't related, you could call around to the funeral homes in the area and ask if they held the services for the person in question. Other than that, you'll have to take someones word.

Realistically it takes more than 30 days for a DC to get filed, and then another 10+ days for it to show up in the system. If the person died in Harris County (OCL-out of the city limits of Houston) then the DC is filed with them. Houston deaths are recorded with the Houston Health Department.

well, I dont really know where he supposedly died, so i did a search on Houston obituaries.
found a couple sites that list all papers but still didnt see his name, I dont know if he was in a smaller county and maybe the name would be listed in a smaller paper or something that wasnt listed.
I wouldnt know which county to look, and am basically keeping my search to internet only search.

the reason i'm doing this is because I have an employee who uses stories a lot, I have caught him in a few lies already. he said his uncle , I happen to know via working with him years before, died of a heart attack. and he took a couple days off.
I didnt think anything until i talked to an old friend today who heard this fellow was possibly still alive. which means another lie from dud employess, soon to be ex employee.

anyway, I'm looking for
Lee Verdon or Verden, houston area, prolly in his late 50's, supposedly had a heart attack and passed away approx. 1-2 months ago.

Why do people lie to get off of work? I just tell the bossman I'm going to be out and it is a done deal. , most of the time I don't even tell him I am going to be out. Why does the excuse matter really? I guess I work in a different enviroment.

But you are right for going after the lying part. If you cannot trust your workers, it means bad news for business.

FYI.....The Chronicle charges a funkin load for an obit.....my Grandmothers small one was gonna be like 500 bucks..

If you got a cop buddy you might be able to get them to run a search on the state system.

Then someone by that name didn't die. The ME's office is the clearing house for death. No one in Harris County (and many of the surrounding counties that contract with them) dies that doesn't get cleared through them. You cannot move a body unless and investigator gives the okay for the famly to make arrangements or they transport to their facilities by the med center.
