A) Make sure you stop far enough back from the vehicle in front that you can go around if needed (escape route). Also, keep the bike in first gear, ready to go.

B) Watch your mirrors for cars coming up behind you.

C) Flash your brake light when a car does come up behind. Added benefit from this is that I've noticed people tend to stop farther behind me when I do it instead of 2 feet behind me.

glad you OK Andrew. It sucks to be rear ended.

If you don't have another mode of transportation rent a car and send the bill to the ins. company.

Is the tip over switch stuck?

Dang Andrew, sorry to hear that bro.
If the damage is substantial, you might wanna brace yourself for a totalled bike from the ins.
I didn't expect my cruiser to be totalled AT ALL and was surprised and disappointed when I got the call.

Good now go to a massage therapist and get a few rub downs on their dime. Get a newer bike, and rent a car to beat on... even if you have one of your own.

Glad your ok. I hate stupid people. You should of waited for the cops to show up so she can get a ticket to help reinforce here leason learned to open her eyes.
Yeah I have two number one rules my dad taught me about street riding long ago. Just pretend you are invisable all the time and always leave a way out. Do these two things and most of the time you will be ok. At stop lights I always flash my break lights until the car behind me stops and always when sitting behind cars at a light I set towards the inside of the yellow lane strips in gear so if I need to take off inbetween a few cars I can.

looking at the damage to her car and the way her car was positioned in the lane next to me I doubt her story of the sun being in her eyes I think she just wasnt paying attention or attempted to switch lanes and didn't get over all the way in time that dent is too far over. SHEEESH women drivers
