Cool New to the Motorcycle world!

Hey guys and gals! My name is Willie. I'm soon to be the proud new owner of some sort of sport bike. I've got a 2000 Trans-Am WS6 for sale so I can buy my buddy's 06 CBR1000. Anyone interested in a fast car? Anyways....thanks for having me!

Honestly, not since I was little on small pocket bikes. Planning to take the MSF course before anything else.

Suit up and get that MSF course done...

P.S....
I'm 5'10" and 275...I ride a 2001 R6. I don't look strange on my bike. My kids and wife would certainly tell me if I did.

lots of big people ride street bikes but they dont start off with that much power.. you can find lots of cheap starter bikes on here(250's,500's,600,s) read some fallen rider threads.. not fun to hear about..

Welcome! Don't think that everyone's preaching at you, just a lot of experience and opinions. Having said that, liter bikes aren't noticeably larger than 600s these days. 600s have been running in the 10s with a good rider for years and are faster than many of the liter bikes were not all that long ago. Start on a bike that makes sense, and you will almost certainly end up a much more skilled rider in the long run. My first streetbike was a 600 and it was honestly probably way too much bike for me at the time. I was used to fast cars. I thought that bikes weren't all that different, but all of my car racing at the time was in a straight line. Beyond my reaction time and wrench ability, most of my car's speed at the track came down to the car. On a bike, 90 percent of the speed, smoothness, safety and capability comes from the operator. I learned a few differences quickly. Cars don't fall over, flip over or lowside if you brake wrong, highside you if you throttle wrong or hurt nearly as bad when you hit something. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it and stay safe. Welcome.
