If a cop gets shot he is taken to Ben taub. Then stabilized. Then taken to a better hospital. Ben taub has good trama care but even the city doesn't trust their after care.

First there are no "AMBULANCE DRIVERS" there are medically trained persons on the abulance

next you are taken to the nearest appropriate medical facility or the facility of your choice, this is dictated by what type of injury you have as well as how you recieved the injury, if your injury is traumatic and the mechanism of injury is indicitive of possible major trauma you will be transported to ben taub("the tub"), if your injury is traumatic and not indicitive of a major trauma then you can go almost anywhere, difference between being in a major MVA and fallin off the swing and breaking your arm. they also transport most indigent people to either the tub or to LBJ. if your bad enough to get flown via Life Flight you go to hermann it is also a level 1 trauma center, however it is also restricted to mainly air medical emergencies.

remember the guy in the back of the ambulance is NOT an Ambulance Driver, the person driving is NOT an ambulance driver, they are BOTH medically trained and EMT's at a minimum and probably Paramedics they may drive the ambulance but no where does the title "AMBULANCE DRIVER" enter into what they do squid

Someone explain to me how medical bills that have gone to collection do not effect your credit please, my wife just got some serious bills because her insurance screwed her, and I am trying to figure out what route to take. I heard Ben Taub was one of the best hopsitals for a gun shot wound.

According to a Dr. I know medical bills can't be put on your credit. You can probably dispute the claim and it has to be taken off. I just spent a week in ICU and the hospital up and billed the wrong insurance. The problem is when they did the preauthorize they did it with the wrong ID number so there is a chance of it being denied the second time around.

If it gets denied that hospital will get $0.00 from me because they made a mistake and thats their problem. Considering I have a primary and secondary insurance hand have already hit my deductibles its not like I would have been paying them out of pocket for their services anyway.

They flew me to Memorial Hermann after my car accident a few years ago. I was happy to end up there.

Like others already said, if I was to be shot, take me to Ben Taub.

Ben Taub is great if you've been shot, stabbed or in a car accident and you're about to die. If you have a cough, your kids have a fever or some minor emergency, you'll wait for hours before being taken care of.

Thats why they had PCP. Primary care physicians are who you see for non emergencies. The people hitting the er for a cold are the real problems with the system. Its free for them but clogs the system.

if your kid needs treatment, go to Texas Childrens Hospital. Ben Taub was rated THE busiest trauma center in the country last year.

True, it's the best TRAUMA hospital in the country. I hope no one here ever gets a gunshot wound, but if so, this is the best hospital for treatment.

Just call them "lazy doctors" or just comment about how much med school would have sucked if they had decided to pick a real profession.

A friend of mine that finished med school told me this:

EMT's scrape your off the pavement and get you to the hospital
Doctors ensure that you will live long enough to eventually nail the pavement again.
Nurses ensure that you keep your dignity by cleaning up after you your pants.

It is his belief that EMTs are crucial to his job being successful. and that nurses are annoying and get in his way alot more than being helpful.
