If this is true, it seems a bit ridiculous. I always thought cops had to obey the speed limit unless responding to an emergency or catching up to someone to pull them over. But section A2 looks like it reads "Speed regulation does not apply to a police patrol [car]".

Is that what they mean by police patrol? A "black and white"?

they do, there's no disputing that. "officer my speedometer was giving me faulty readings, i just figured if i was behind you i must not be going too fast" lol

and thanks to the doggy door to the garage, i don't have to call anyone. If someone thinks they can get in my garage and back out with all their flesh, i'll buy em lunch

so in my thinking or understanding and if i was a judge .. you need the EMERGENCY to exempt you from the speeding .. patroling isn't an emergency
You're right. I didn't read the heading. So yeah, I'm back on my original thought, cops are still supposed to obey the speed limits unless responding to an emergency (or making a traffic stop...stopping the "bad guy" from doing 15 over isn't quite what I'd rule an emergency).

Are you that blind?
545.365. SPEED LIMIT EXCEPTION FOR EMERGENCIES; MUNICIPAL REGULATION

Regular patrols are municipal regulation. You are not in high school anymore. At least I assume you are not. The whole "why can he do it if I can't" argument is juvenile.

So lets say the 5.0 is speeding for no particular reason and crashes his car. The above will get him, and will open up the department for lawsuits.

I'm cautious about doing the speed limit myself due to department policy unless I'm needed somewhere. If I get on the freeway and do the speed limit it seems to cause a mess behind me so I do about 5 over or so over, not 60 over. I give about 15mph leeway for people if I'm doing enforcement and bikes greater leeway due to them trying to get around the cagers.
holy , dude. thumbs up for this guy!
i got ticketed by one of our own for going like 72 in a 65. my lt saw it and was like 'whose the writing my boys tickets.
's different now, but i thought it was cool.
