question about a speeding ticket

Ok, lets say hypothetically I was speeding and I was pulled over and the cop writes me a ticket for 65/45. I asked for a radar reading, and he said he didn't have one which means there was no way for him to determine my speed, but he said he had me on camera 'fly' by

Anything I can say to the judge? If not I'm just going to plead no contest and do defensive driving or differed adjudication.

Help me out!

Lawyer is the only way to stand up for yourself in court. The judge will hear you out, say guilty, and read off your fine. Plain and simple. They dont care.

Hire an attorney. They are magicians. Especially if you're driving record is pretty clear.

...forget the hypothetical .

Were you speeding or not?

If so, either lawyer up...or pony up and pay the fine.

I am not current with the technology that is available to LEOs theses days, but I would think they would have to have some evidence that you were speeding... Ask a lawyer in the appropriate section of this forum.

the only thing a po-po needs to convict you of exceeding(speeding) is his/her word didn't ya know that cops have the inate ability to tell how fast you were going while they were in the do nut shop eating gut bombs and the judge always take the word of the fat , heads they win tails you loose

Edit: I don't wish any harm to cops but , I really dislike them.

Just do like me and get a cloaking device. I'm not really sure how it works - but I've been rediculously lucky.

When I DID get a speeding ticket in my truck, the fact that the cop was driving when he 'clocked' me pretty much got me out of the ticket, because my atty said he can't do that. If you have an atty you have a MUCH better chance of getting a dismissal. If you go in there on your own you will lose. Unfortunately it becomes your word against the cop's and he's going to win.

Good luck.

Sorry, I don't know of any attorneys in your area.

ur word against his... his word always wins. he could have visually observe you doing xxxmph and cite you for that.

for example.... the cars your about to pass are all doing the speed limit 45 you go past them pretty quickly he can cite you for what seems like 65 to his trained eye.

now you have 4 options

1 pay the ticket take the points
2 go in and very nicely ask to speak to the officer before you speak to the judge. 2 things can happen now. you speak to him nicely he lowers the speed on your ticket or give you like an"unsafe driving" ticket which carry's no points but is a bit more expensive usually around 250 plus court cost.
or hes not there and they will post pone the court date. if he does not show to the next date they will drop the charges in 90% of the time.
3. (you must have a clean record and not have taken defensive driving in the past year) you plea no contest and take DD. pay for the class court fees and a surcharge.
4. hire a lawyer and let him take care of it.

hope the info helps

one more thing. you can take it to trial . now it will be the state/city that has to prove that you were doing that speed. there will be a jury and they will have to convince them( keep in mind this can take months and many court days so if you dont have the time/energy dont do this and if ur convicted you will pay for the 65 in 45 no plea bargaining
