Thought on a HD XR1200?

I'm getting ready to get another bike, after being denied credit to get a Kawasaki Er-6n, seems like Harley Davidson credit is eager to finance me another Buell 1125CR, but a salesman on mancuso Powersports said he could get me in a 09 XR1200 with 500 miles on it.

I remember seeing this bike a couple of years back and thought that would be the ONLY harley I would ever pimp.

but, the XR is 10700 bucks, where the Buell is 6500, and at least I'm pretty familiar with it too.

Here are a couple of pics:

If you have to finance either one then I'd go with none.

I vote the HD. I love that XR1200. I wonder if that's the same one I saw on CL today.

don't get a buell. bad news bears right there. if i were in your position i'd buy a used bike. cheaper and that way you could get the bike you want.

and i agree with what mike and thomas (noob) have to say. =)

BUELL all the way man... the XR1200 is part of the reason HD ceased the production of the buells

I was thinking Nightster for a while, but my tall doesn't need a lowered bike, especially coming from a sportbike. I'd be dragging parts all over the roads. Now I'm leaning more towards an XR1200. I'd wait until the 2011 models start selling though, let the 09 models depreciate just a little bit more.

Buying the Buell is a little like buying a used bike, the warranty aint so good.
That said I would buy the Buell. It's fast, it handles great and it has really good brakes. The Harley doesn't do ANY of those things very well.

Now ask yourself why you ride a bike.

There see? The Buell is the obvious answer in a choice between these two.

It's gonna be a compromise either way.
Personally, if it were between those two, I'd go with the Buell for the performance advantage. I've personally never cared for the looks, but I've heard they are great riding bikes.
The XR is sweet too, but it's heavier and less powerful than Buells from a decade ago. If you're not doing any track days or hard street riding, I'd pick this one.
Looks great and I have a feeling they are gonna hold their value, especially if Harley discontinues them for what ever reason.

YMMV

I know, I'm sure I'll go with the Buell, besides, lugging an almost 600 lbs bike on the track doesn't seem like fun, so the XR is almost outta the question.
