non titled bike for sale

Have a question for you guys, a friend where I live is trying to sell his wrecked bike that is not that bad, the thing is that he had it financed in 07 and hasn't paid a payment on it since then. He is asking a very low price for it that's why I considered it, knowing also that it would not come with a title ( wanna a track bike anyway). Is this wrong on my part, and would I get in trouble for doing something like this. The finance company has not contacted him in two years.

Yeah I know, I am not a bike thief Badzx14 far from it I have money to buy a new one which I already have, I was just wondering about that cause I have run into several guys selling bikes that don't have titles and guys will still buy them and turn them into track bikes or stunt bikes. Have a nice day.

The bike could be flagged as stolen from the finance company. Thats prob why I wouldnt touch it. If you get caught with it. Then u go down as receiving stolen property. Not really worth it now.. Right?

Nope, in Texas there is no receiving of stolen property, its theft just as if you were the person who stole it originally.

You might not get caught, but I wouldn't risk it. You're basically helping your buddy steal from the bank.

You can get the title by putting a mechanics lien against it. It will cost you about 250 through a title company.

it may not even be reported stolen by the finance company yet nothing illegal about having a lein on a vin number but they could report it stolen at anytime. so its def. a no go.

On a bike that the bank owns?

ahhh if you take that bike you will be considered a thief in the eyes of the law. You could attempt to get a mechanics lien on the vehicle, good luck with that on a bike that has a lien already on it (yes they keep track of this). What's more like is that they will run it, it will come back stolen and it is in your possession.. YOU WILL GO TO JAIL!

I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole!

1. I find it hard to believe that the bank just "forgot" about the bike. What bank is it? I want them to finance my next bike!!!!

2. No title means that you will have to title it, not titling it is also tax evasion! How are you going to do that?

3. Just not a good idea, smells a little too fishy for me.

- my nickle
