There's nothing "redneck" about it - unless you merely throw that epithet at anything you do not understand.

The thought process is simple - they are burying their own, not letting someone who did not know the dead man be the one to send him on his way.

Not trying to start a debate over this, but you didnt pull him out of momma's vag.. A doctor did. WTF difference does it make who's putting dirt on the guys coffin. He's dead. Gone. Not there anymore. Just a shell of someone who used to live. I could see if you wanted to stay till he was burried. Fine, but dont start a -near brawl at a cemetary

In my head it seems a lot like the foolish pride that other races have. Its gets them in trouble, and ends up with someone dead or in jail. Now i'll ask you.. Why?

If you want to try, I mean REALLY try... start with talking to an old marine, grunt or sailor from WW2.

While your at it, it might be worth educting yourself on the old bikers and just what the true 1%'s were too.

Well. I've seen a lot of documentaries about the biker gangs of old. Most of them were like what badzx14 said.. Into drugs, guns, stolen bikes, and general gang activity. I guess its just a way to feel you belong..

Man, I've been reluctant to post in this thread, but screw it.... When Matty passed they did something similar (RIP Matt). Those that wanted to come forward and spread the dirt into his grave were allowed to do so. I personally think that people hurt and ache tremendously when they lose someone they care about and anything within reason to help their grieving process should be left alone. How hard is it to fill a hole that you need a trained employee? Not very. How much benefit does it bring the friends and family of the ones that were close to the decease? I don't think that can be measured. People like to have some sort of closure or way to say goodbye or to show respect or whatever else....why stop them from that?

He's not, he was just referring to a section of the original article.

Mark,
I'm sorry but you lack the ability to understand.

Do you actually, really, truly and deeply care about people around you? From that comment above I can't see that.

...doesn't mean you're 'talking' about the same thing. Forget/ignore the '1%' aspect. 1%, 10%, 100%.. that part doesn't matter.\

p.s. You ask "who's stopping them". The article itself details an instance in which the funeral co attempted
to prevent them from doing just that.

good article, I don't agree with the bickering I am seeing in the thread, I have the opinion that when they move and don't leave a forwarding addy(die) that its just a shell. that being said I also believe that the addage of EVERYONE COMES HOME, I WILL NOT ABANDON A FALLEN COMRADE DEAD OR ALIVE. I will respect the belief they have, and I do agree that NO ONE throws dirt in the face of my brother, my brother happen to be soldiers not 1%ers. so if you don't understand then atleast respect the belief of the person, and hold your own councel, same as most of us here respect your right to believe in religous things of one sort or another or not believe them as you choose.

oh and mike resistance is futile, if less than one ohm!

The vast bulk of them are my friend.

Even if they weren't, the point of the article was the deep commitment to friendship that these men have.

I'm truly sorry for you that you are unable to understand this. I hope, for your sake, you one day discover it.

The difference is in the commitment to a friend.

I'm sorry you don't understand it. I truly am. For those of us who do, this article is heartwarming. For those who don't, well...that's your loss.

Ah OK, so then your self-imposed ignorance takes precedence over actual information. Got it...

Well, you have to understand that a text past a certain length is just too much
for some people. Why do you think Twitter is so successful? It's only 140 characters
