Was Independence Day a patriotic movie? I just figured it was more a "You cant keep Will Smith Down" movie

BAH!! I wasnt really thinking the Aliens wanted to destroy the USA so much as to destroy the World....ID4 seemed more like a gimmic to sell the movie. It was a good movie I just didnt think it was "Patriotic". But I guess you can look at it like that. Just seems like an odd take on it.
