Question

Just picked up a project Daytona
but there is a problem i would like to know about before i tear it apart myself

i was told it needs a new stator because it wont hold a charge

bike will start while on a charger, but when revving it hard in neutral all lights flicker and the bike stutters and cuts out

after turning off the bike and trying to start it back up, it clicks extremely fast but nothing

so im sure its something with the charging system, but could it be something else as well?

If the stator cant charge the battery the bike won't run. The bike runs off the battery, stator keeps the battery going, so once the battery has lost it's energy bike is done.

It sounds like a mulit-meter is going to be yer best friend if you don't want to just replace everything.

There's nothing like constantly chasing charging system problems. Do it once, do it right.

Just check what you have going in vs what's coming out.

Could just be a dead battery too.

the stators have been updated in the newer daytonas because of common failures. regulators rectifiers also. the r/r was moved to the inner fairing as well on newer bikes because of issues.

I think Todd did nothing but chase stator problems and other charging problems on his old Daytona.
