All I see are words. It's nice that you're gracing us with your holier than thou complex, though.

Let me aee if I cant put this into as few words as possible: That human being driving the police cruiser was reckless. him. Also, you.

Edit: I didn't say the police in my original post.

It looks as if the bike was on a main street that goes thru the neighborhood with no stop signs with a speed limit of 30mph. All the streets that intersect with this street have stop signs. In other words, it was a 2-way stop and if the cop was familiar with the area at all, he should have known this and stopped. I know he must be feeling very guilty so I'm not going to bash him. However, I think we should let this serve as a reminder that we need to be fully aware of our surroundings while we are on the road. I'm thinking most likely his mind was elsewhere. He has a stressful job although that is no excuse.

I hope the rider makes it ok, and that the cop is held up to the law that he has sworn to protect.

This thread is discussing a single officer who decided to run a stop sign and quite possibly killed a motorcyclist, the only person who generalized this into police as a whole was you.
I can't agree with you on this. The " the police" comment included the stated reason "because hes an officer and is "above the law"". What conclusion would you have the rest of us draw other than the poster is biased specifically because he was an officer?

How can you determine that he "decided to run a stop sign" from the information provided? Could it be that he was simply distracted, perhaps operating his laptop, talking on the radio, exchanging texts with his wife...?

What is clear is that the officer committed a traffic violation, caused an accident, injured a motorcyclist... He has acknowledged fault, his department has acknowledged fault, both he and his department have expressed remorse and concern for the person injured.

Now tell me, short of rolling back the clock and undoing the accident, what would you or anyone else in this thread have the officer and department do that they have not done thus far? How would you have handled the accident / aftermath differently if you were the officer?

There are many officers and departments that would have written the motorcyclist a ticket and blamed him. In this case they did the right thing, which is commendable.

Regardless of "WHO" ran the stop sign, a rider was taken down during the "ACCIDENT". Hope the rider is able to fully recover and continue with life.
I'm sure the cop is truly concerned with the rider and his well being. No matter who you are, knowing that you've taken someone's life or almost taken someone's life in an accident is something that I'm sure will always be in the back of your mind.

so does this mean that since the officer is always equiped with a gun, that sooner or later when he accidently pops off a rounds....its ok because the amount of time he spent with a gun vs the how many rounds got fired off is a legit arguement

just saying
