It is a dead horse unless it is a uninformed person with a open mind reading it.

I do like the parting shot very much:

" In this period of public-spending cuts, the authorities should focus on the minority who are criminally selfish, and not treat bikers as children."

I do find it amusing.. 'a sunday walk', 'must have been doing a ton'
and then lists the speeds in MPH. :-)

Believe it or not .. some people enjoy walking. I know, a concept not easily grasped in Houston

He does have a point indeed. We all are probably more or less guilty of it.
The thing is that there's always a place and time to do certain things. Hauling the mail on a busy road and unsafe passing is not a good idea, what a surprise.
Doing it on an empty road on an early Sunday morning with no or little traffic is another story. And safe passing is something some people also seem to have never heard of.

1. He's British
2. I believe he was driving to a scenic spot in order to park his car and go for a walk

Yea, except in this case..as he staes he was taking a 'drive'.

Yes, this would explain some of the verbage... except the speed being MPH instead of KPH.

Just an amusing observation in use of language folx, the 'sunday walk' is a 'sunday drive' or 'stroll'. Don't get yer knickers in a knot. :-)

I do recall road signs limiting speed in MPH in Great Britain, not KPH.

The UK uses both KPH and MPH, depends on the area...

All the english riders I know talk about mph? In fact "doing a ton" refers to 100mph.

I like customary, though a slight knowledge of the metric system is always nice when you get pulled over by a police officer.

cop - "sir do you know how fast you were going?"
me - "Just a bit over a 100 I assume"
cop - "What? do ya wanna say that one more time?"
me - "Sure, I was doing a bit over 100 kph"
cop - "mind putting that into american terms?"
me - "Oh, sorry.. well i guess that would be about 65 mph"
cop - facepalms then lets me go with a warning since I am sure I made him feel like a dumbass.
