Another great forum is www.vfrd.com (i think one of the other guys already posted) and www.pashnit.com

www.pashnit.com is a great forum with alot of good stories, routes and pictures tailored to cali and west coast riding.

I'm not registered over there but those that are I'm sure know Jammin. He's pretty cool ridden with him a few times and did a track day with him. That crazy dude rode his gixxer to the track with his entire campsite on his back, crashed during the day, fixed his bike, finished the day then rode home the next day. His trip he's on now blows my mind, taking 2 years off to ride south america then africa.

My favorites are Sydney to London on a moped named dot, and the far off africa . And of course, eastern europe.

I joined a couple of years ago. I don't feel worthy to post after reading some of the threads on there. That's a serious rider forum. Could read that stuff all day. I figure one day after the kids have graduated I will move up to that level and be able to do some serious excursions. Here to Alaska and back would probably be the first on the list. Just thinking about something like that is incredible.

Not everyone on there is a RTW rider. There are lots of 4 day Mexico RR's they just don't stand out as much.

If any of you are thinking about a trip from here to Alaska, here to the bottom of the continent below ours or just a 2 week trip through Mexico I would not recommend it. Riding around here will never be the same and you'll often find yourself sitting at your desk wondering why you're there and not on the road somewhere.

first thread i read on that site was an asian kid named wan that came to america with a few bucks in his pocket, bought a honda ruckus, and rode across the united states with EXTREMELY little english.

it was a great story about meeting tons of great people, bike troubles, massive amounts of generosity from strangers as well as the ADV community and he ended up learning english pretty good too!

you can't help but see the countryside in great detail when your maximum speed is only 35mph!

Side effects may include..............

Hey, I can see how that could be a problem. I still don't think it would stop me. I mostly commute on the bike here anyway. Leaving tomorrow for Colorado. I'm sure that's going to spoil me a little.
