Question Suomy visor delamination issue/problem

Anyone have this problem with Suomy helmet Visors?

This is a Spec R1, with less than a year in use.

I never use any "cleaner" on it other than warm water and sometimes water with baby shampoo.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I was thinking about replacing it with one of these fancy Iridium visors, but if it's not going to last I don't want it.

Anyone have any luck getting a replacment form Suomy or know if this is a "known defect"

in the photo, you can see it is "curling" all around the visor edge whre the visor meets the rubber seal when closed. It is geting worse over time.

thanks in advance.

Had mine for 2 1/2 years with very regular use and no problems like that. Maybe its the baby shampoo?

may be, but only used a very diluted solution and it never bothered my cheaper lid visors.

Suomy should warranty it.

Regular problem. It has happened to all my suomy visors. There are a couple threads with answers on it somewhere in this and other forums. I'll try to hunt down the info for you and post it up.

i cant really tell whats happening....is it the plastic on the visor that is kinda like "warping" or are you saying the film stuff on the inside of the visor is peeling off???? i have suomy too and ive had the iridium stuff on the inside start to peel thats why i was asking. if any of this makes sense.

ok.....i re read...and YES i have had the same problem which is why i had to buy a new visor and it was peeling in the same place as yours.

Urban,
I've got an extra yellow sorta tint one you can have from my Bostrom Suomy. I don't use it. It's never even been on my head with that visor on it. Heres a pic of the visor.

ok I'm going to contact Suomy.

And it is a thin layer of plastic "film" in the inside that is peeling.

Aaron, thanks mang. I will check if it will fit the Spec.

Mine is a Spec 1R extreme. It should fit. I think the only difference is the air holes on the top.

Thumbs up Suomy USA Customer Service

Suomy USA Customer Service seems to be good. I was worried I would need to switch brands if the visor is a continous issue. However, I contacted Suomy, they requested the type of visor I had and my address. I sent the info back to him along with a photo of the visor and he said a new one is in the mail.

Hopefully, the mfg process or QC has been taken care of and the new visor(s) won't have this problem.

All in all, the response from Suomy and resolution took less 6 hours, not counting the shipping wait time.

Now if I can just find that little orange tool used to change/adjust the visor...

Awesome!!

I've used many things to pop the covers off mine. Cuz I didn't know that orange thing was a tool...and instructions are for that throw away and then realize they're dumb
