My Battery?

I bought a new battery about 6 months ago or so, a Yuasa. I didn't ride my bike for a month because I was out of town for work. I rode it yesterday. It starts up and runs when I have the choke on, and is fine when I'm in 2nd+ gear without the choke. When I slow down at a light with the choke off, the bike turns off.

Is that the battery I assume?

Not that I would think. Once the bike is running the battery's job is essentially over. Minus little things.

While the choke is on, it keeps running. Only when the choke is off and I am in first gear going slow will the bike turn off.

Put about 1/2 can of Seafoam in it, fill with fresh gas, and go for a long highway ride. Sounds like you have some bad gas and junk in the fuel system.

In the future, keep a full tank when parked, with some Seafoam or Stabil in the tank.

The battery doesn't give a rat's about the choke

When you say "turn off" does that mean it dies instantly or does it stutter and then die. If it starts fine several times and the lights are bright I wouldn't suspect the battery.

Thanks, gents. Can I find seafoam at autozone? I just filled up the tank, so can I pour it in and go for a long ride? How long do you recommend? Houston to Galv and back?

Use cant really use it too often. I would run it for a few tanks and then start using it regularly. I add some about every 2-3 tanks. They have it at pretty much every auto parts store including Wally World.

You seem new to the seafoam game so here's a heads up. If you see a billow of white smoke coming out of your tailpipe, thats normal. That means its working. If you see black smoke thats normal. That means your bike was dirty as all .

Not seeing smoke after adding it to your fuel doesn't mean it isn't working though.
