I see riders on cruisers ALL the time not wearing gear - both man and woman. It's daily.

I wonder what injuries the man had.

im new to the biking world, but from what i've seen, VERY few cruiser/ touring bike riders wear ANY gear other than a helmet ( half that time it's one of those Army helmets, or "brain buckets" as i've heard)

Maybe guys/girls on cruiser bikes are allergic to gear? makes their skin too itch??

SVT:

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is any tachycardic rhythm originating above the ventricular tissue. Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) is a rapid rhythm of the heart which involves an accessory pathway. This is in contrast to the potentially deadlier ventricular tachycardias, which are rapid rhythms that originate from the ventricles of the heart, that is, below the atrial tissue or atrioventricular (AV) node.

so it's very similar to V-tach but since it happens above the AV node the heart can still beat?

the heart beats during v-tach and svt/psvt both, neither are very good at moving the blood, a real fast half stroke in a pump is't as good as a slow full stroke, yes they can infact go so fast that circulation is compromised and thats why the red patch will often times shock the heart to get it to slow down, but if its caused by blood loss then ya gots to put more blood in, if a system isn't full the pump can't move the fluid very well and the baro receptors in the body need the pressure up to be satified, so they make the heart go faster to compensate.

all v-tach and svt or supraventricular tachycardia reall refer to is where the impulse comes from for the ventricles to fire and cause contraction(beat) the heart being as the tissue will generate a signal itself if no other higher signal is recieved(automaticity)

from what ive read you really cant say that from the info we have. think about it, if your ridding along and a car cuts you off and you swerve and girl/passenger doesnt have a tight enough grip on and flies off... it could happen to anyone!!!!!

and it makes no difference on if she was wearing gear for her legs unless she had been in a full suite..... and even then it wouldnt of made a difference being he stated her other leg was broken/fractured in multiple places tells us that her legs impacted with a object, so gear would of made no diff. at all..... except for her head and skin(road rash).....

feel free to correct me if im wrong......

that really sucks, but would gear have actually helped not rip her leg off? Not saying it wouldn't have helped, but it sounds like the accident was pretty horrendous.

I hope not.

BTW what is a blue or red patch?
Red patch is either an EMT-Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic(does the same thing just LP has an associates or higher) Plays with meidications shocks the pt and all the skills below, Blue patch comes in 2 flavors basic EMT(emergency medical Technitian) or Intermediate ( EMT-Intermediate allowed to do more than a basic, like put a tube down the throat or start IV's) then there is a white patch ECA don't do squat cept get in the way and off upper patchmen.

goes like this from highest to lowest

Paramedic, EMT-P Licensed Paramedic
EMT- Intermediate
EMT Emergency Medical Technitian
ECA Emergency Care Attendant
